Classes I Teach

So I love the gym. It is a happy place. You are there by choice (unless yo’ momma made u go, which I am doubting) and people are generally nice, helpful and happy. I teach several different group exercise classes, all of which I love for different reasons.

First of all is Super Step. That’s right, Step Aerobics. The kind your mom did when u were a teenager, but WAAAAAAAAY more awesome! It is half athletic/half dance and it is addicting. However, it takes most people 4 classes or about a month the start to get the hang of it. Do not be discouraged if you try a new form of exercise and it goes ZIP! right over your head. You wouldn’t want to do it if it was easy and you just have to be out of your comfort zone for a little bit.

Next is Turbo Kick. You may have seen infomercials for Turbo Jam late at night while watching Nick at Nite. That is the home-modified version but essentially the same thing. Choreographed cardiokickboxing (READ: not martial arts) with high energy music and explosive plyometric interval, or what we call Turbo Drills. Lots of fun and a major calorie scorcher due to intervals and muscle recruitment.

Moving on to Power Pump. Oh to sing the praises of group weight lifting! This is an hour of intense, full-body strength training that keeps your heart rate elevated and burns mega calories while also building the fat-furnace that is muscle.

Last is RIPPED. Resistence, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Edurance, and Diet. Love this format. It has high intensity cardio, it has muscle building, and the time just flies by since you are switching modes so frequently.

You didn’t ask, but there it is just the same. This is what keeps me sane, gives me a strong heart and body, and fulfills my social needs :) If you have an opportunity to try a group fitness class, I highly recommend it. It is so choice. KB

In the interest of prepping as much of your food ahead of time as possible, this would cut down so much mess and chop time for daily smoothies.

So I know this thought has been around, but it bears repeating! I am literally a drenched disgusting mess from about 10 minutes in to my workout til the end. Worry about how “hot” you look outside of the gym, not during your workout.

To My Hubs

I have loved or so I thought before
But this is so much more
I couldn’t last a day without you
In my life, you’re the reason that I breathe; you’re everything I need
The miles in between wont change that

I will reach out to the ocean with my arms wide open
And send to you my heart my soul my true devotion
No, there’s nothing I won’t give
Do you know that I live for the chance to hear you say you love me

CLEAN EGG MUFFINS RECIPE
INGREDIENTS for 24 cupcakes:
*1 red bell pepper
*2 roma tomatoes
*good handful of fresh basil leaves (cut these from my garden, LOVE the smell of freshly cut basil)
*3-4 scallions (green onion)
*6 whole eggs + 4 cups of egg whites
DIRECTIONS:
1. Chop up all of your veggies! Then mix them together in a large bowl. Next, whisk your whole eggs and egg whites together in anotehr bowl.
2. Line your muffin tins with cupcake holders and spray with PAM. If you don’t have liners, you can directly spray PAM onto the tin. Then fill your cups with about a tablespoon of egg mixture.

3. Next fill the rest of the cup up with veggies! Then fill to the top with the rest of your eggs. You can pretty much fill to the brim.
4. Pop them into the oven at 375F for about 20-30 min or until you see that they are firm on top.

Yummy!!! I was so hungry. Couldn’t wait to eat.

Simply peel the egg muffins out of your liners and serve with some salsa. Super yummy!!!! This is a great meal for those of you who have super stressful mornings and don’t have time to make an omelet. I have 24 of these and can eat them for bfast for the rest of the week. I suppose you could eat them in the car or on the subway too. But be careful of course!
NUTRITION INFO:
total recipe: 1061 cals, 34g fat, 32g carbs, 144g protein.
per muffin: 44.2 cals, 1.4g fat, 1.3g carbs, 6g protein.
FREAKING NOM.

Yum yum yum! I am thinking of adding some diced up turkey bacon o.o

10 Reasons to Eat BreakfastBreakfast restores sugar levels after up to 12 hours of not eating.
It is extremely difficult to get all of your necessary daily nutrients without breakfast.
Adults who skip breakfast are less mentally and physically efficient for longer periods during the day.
People who eat breakfast are more successful at losing weight and sticking to a diet.
Athletes who skip breakfast train less effectively.
Eating breakfast can raise metabolism by as much as 10 percent.
People who eat breakfast regularly are more likely to rate their health as “excellent” or “good.”
Missing breakfast increases your chance of heavy machinery and factory accidents.
Eating breakfast has been shown to increase concentration.
Eating a bigger meal in the morning and a smaller meal at night optimizes your daily energy levels.
Building a Balanced BreakfastBreakfast should provide at least one quarter of the calories you need for the entire day. Most nutritionists agree that a good breakfast contains the following ingredients:
At least one serving of  fiber
At least one fruit and/or vegetable
Milk or another source of calcium
Protein, i.e., from meat, cheese or eggs
If this sounds like a tall order, it’s not. A bowl of cereal with fruit, a cereal bar with a glass of milk or a pita pocket with ham and cheese all fill the bill, as do bigger, traditional breakfasts, like eggs, ham and juice or blueberry pancakes with bacon. And, yes, cold pizza (with a glass of milk) qualifies as a healthy breakfast alternative.
Never eat breakfast?
If your usual breakfast is a cup of coffee, start small by incorporating a glass of juice or milk into your morning routine for a week or so, and then gradually build up to a balanced meal. If you think you don’t have time in the morning, consider making breakfast the night before or buying ready-made alternatives, such as cereal bars and juice boxes.
